Communications Specialist
The Communications Specialist supports the cooperative’s mission by promoting member engagement through the development and delivery of communications across digital, print, and public platforms. This position is responsible for marketing, social communication and community outreach efforts to enhance the cooperative’s visibility and strengthen relationships within the communities it serves.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Execute the cooperative communication plan, using various social media, website, magazine, newsletters, radio, press releases, in-person meetings/presentations and other methods.
- Lead cooperative communications regarding public information, outage updates, rebate programs, energy efficiency, youth programs and other necessary communications.
- Maintain the cooperative website and social media accounts and keep them current.
- Assist in planning the annual meeting, preparing the annual report and other communications.
- Coordinate and lead activities during 4-H fairs, community electric safety programs, Youth Tour, summer camps, Member Appreciation Day and other public events.
- Develop crisis communication processes and procedures.
- Promote goodwill between the cooperative and the community and participate in community events.
- Work with Hoosier Energy, Indiana Electric, NRECA and other electric cooperatives in areas such as Key Accounts (HE), Member Service Section Meetings (IEC), Marketing & Member Service Meetings (HE),
National Communications and Member Service Meetings (NRECA) and Member Satisfaction Surveys.

- General Public – presenting a friendly, courteous image for the cooperative.
- Hoosier Energy, Indiana Electric Cooperatives, NRECA, & other electric cooperatives – Participates in communications and marketing activities associated with preserving and protecting the integrity of rural electric cooperatives, their programs and services.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a minimum of:
- Associate’s degree in communications, marketing or related field.
- Experience in communications, marketing or related career path, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Technical/ Computer/ Office Equipment
- Must have excellent written and proofreading skills.
- Exhibits excellent verbal communication skills, including in-person and public speaking.
- Proficient in using desktop publishing tools to create communications materials.
- Able to collaborate effectively with others.
- Basic photography skills are desirable.
- Demonstrates a high level of self‑motivation, initiative, creative thinking, and decision‑making ability.
- Possesses artistic and creative skills in graphic design.
- Decision making, problem solving and research skills are also important.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- The role involves a variety of duties and requires limited physical activity, including occasional lifting or minor physical exertion.
- Work is performed indoors and occasionally outdoors.
- Irregular work hours will occasionally be required to support meetings and events.
- Requires after-hours availability for remotely publishing outage updates on social media.
- In-state and out‑of‑state travel is required.

Daviess-Martin County REMC is an electric distribution cooperative with approximately 7,000 members, headquartered in Loogootee, IN. Our facility is close to I-69 in southwestern Indiana. Loogootee is 50 miles southwest of Bloomington, IN, 20 miles north of Jasper, IN, 35 miles east of Vincennes, IN and 28 miles west of Mitchell, IN. The beauty of nature abounds in the area, surrounded by forests and lakes. Boggs Park is within 5 miles of the town and has camping, hiking, boating and fishing.
