Operations Specialist

Daviess-Martin County REMC is currently searching for an Operations Specialist. This position was created to help achieve the purpose for which the Cooperative was organized; that is, by providing for specific operational responsibilities to be delegated to a competent, well-trained person whose knowledge of and ability in this position will contribute to the attainment of the basic purpose of the Cooperative. Daviess-Martin County REMC is located in Loogootee, IN and has approximately 7,000 members.
 
The specific objectives for this position and the responsibilities to fulfill these objectives include:

Specific Responsibilities
 
1. Handle all phases of member/consumer services (by phone or in person). (Outages, new services, reconnects, disconnects, material sales).
2. Schedule and dispatch serviceman for general maintenance.
3. Schedule and dispatch serviceman for Delinquent disconnects.
4. Create invoice for car pole accidents and submit insurance claims
5. Collect information on claims against DMREMC and file claims to Federated.
6. Create invoice for work done by DMREMC and mail to customers.
7. Coordinating drug testing program with approved vendor
8. Assist in the purchasing of material.
9. Assist in preparation and the retention of PCB reports.
10. Assist in the coding and preparation for payment of invoices.
11. Assist in checking in material received from Vendors.
12. Create right-a-way tickets and vegetation tickets for Director of Operations.
13. Assist Director of Operations with coding and checking weekly Invoices from hot tickets and right-of-way tickets.
14. Assist Director of Operations with record keeping and filing.
15. Enter and prepare reports for DMREMC contractors.
16. Put meter charges for members in computer.
17. Data entry in computer for variety of reports.
18. Process Remote disconnects on delinquent day.
19. Monitor, dispatch and restore outages on CRC daily and during storms.
20. Other Duties as assigned.
 
General Responsibilities
 
1. Perform any and all tasks and duties assigned to carry out the Daviess-Martin County REMC’s objectives and goals.
2 .Promote goodwill between the Cooperative and the member/consumer and the general public.
3. Obtain, through continuing training, knowledge in those areas that will affect performance in the objectives, plans and programs of the Service Department.

           -coordination with Line Superintendent and service person.

Loogooteeis 50 miles southwest of Bloomington,IN , 20 miles north of Jasper, IN, 35miles east of Vincennes, IN and 28 miles west of Mitchell, IN. Meter Technician

Job Description

Daviess-Martin County REMC is currently searching for a Meter Technician. To provide maximum service to member-consumers and the Cooperative by providing prompt meter testing to REMC equipment and other related duties. This is a Salary Non-exempt position in the Cooperative and reports directly to the Director of Operations. Daviess-Martin County REMC is located in Loogootee, Indiana, and has approximately 7,000 members. 

Essential Job Functions:

Other duties may be assigned to meet the section, department and Cooperative’s goals and objectives.

  • Responsible for all AMI systems.
  • Installs, tests, calibrates, programs and repairs meters in shop.
  • Installs, reads and tests meters in the field. 
  • Thoroughly cleans and repairs meters as needed.
  • Accurately programs all DMREMC meters.
  • Ensures all meters are properly sealed after testing.
  • Accurately documents information on all tested and repaired meters. 
  • Sets and maintains single-phase and three-phase metering above 200 Amps.
  • Effectively repairs any damaged meter bases.
  • Performs meter change outs according to company procedures. 
  • Investigates voltage and power quality issues with members. 
  • Makes service calls on high bill complaints. 
  • Helps investigate meter theft and stopped meters. 
  • Inspects substations to keep AMI equipment in order. 
  • Maintains the Meter Department Inventory. 

Job Requirements, Skills and Knowledge Required:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

  • Must be adaptable to changing conditions and equipment. 
  • Must have basic computer skills. 
  • Needs good working knowledge of all types of electrical meters and electrical recording instruments. 
  • Demonstrates ability in the effective application, installation, testing and calibration of all types of watt-hour meters and instrument transformers. 
  • Must have the ability to follow directions and follow through accurately. 
  • Must have customer service skills in order to meet their needs. 
  • Supports teamwork by providing effective participation, cooperation and communication. 
  • Must have the ability to work unsupervised. 
  • Must have the ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner in the workplace and while representing the cooperative away from the office. 
  • Must observe all safety rules and regulations adopted by DMREMC.

Education and/or Experience:

Technical College courses or equivalent for electricity desired. May be required to attend the Hoosier Energy Metering Apprenticeship Program. Previous work experience in the utility industry is desired. Knowledge of local, state and national codes and regulations regarding instrument metering is desired. 

Working Environment:

Both inside and outside work. Some overtime and driving to and from meetings and schools as required by management. The meter technician may work in all types of weather conditions and may be required to work overtime during storm duty or large projects.
