Energy Assistance

At Daviess-Martin County REMC, we are committed to helping our members through difficult times. If you are experiencing financial challenges and having trouble paying your electric bill, assistance programs may be available. We encourage members to explore available resources, and our team can help connect you with local agencies and community organizations that provide energy assistance and support services.

Daviess-Martin County REMC may not terminate residential electric service from December 1 through March 15 for any customer who is eligible for and has applied for assistance under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) under IC 4-4-33.

Daviess-Martin County REMC may not terminate residential electric service on any day for which the National Weather Service has forecast, within the preceding 48 hours, a heat index of at least 95 degrees Fahrenheit for the customer’s service area, for any customer who is eligible for and has applied for LIHEAP assistance under IC 4-4-33 during the current calendar year.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

LIHEAP is a federally funded program administered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) that helps income-eligible households with home energy costs. Assistance is distributed through local Community Action Agencies throughout Indiana.
